About Inbound

Inbound is a daily NBA recap built to show more than the final score: how a game developed, which players stood out, and which statistical differences separated the teams.

Data and game arcs

Game and player statistics come from BALLDONTLIE. Team totals sum player box scores. They can omit team-only turnovers and statistics the provider does not supply. The game arc shows cumulative leads at quarter breaks, not play-by-play. Missing statistics remain unavailable rather than being invented.

Performances and quality meters

Top Performances uses 1.25 × points + 1.2 × rebounds + 1.5 × assists + 3 × blocks + 3 × steals. Points are always displayed first, alongside two other stats selected against standout benchmarks. This is an editorial ranking, not official NBA Game Score.

Player quality meters adjust weighted production for missed field goals, turnovers, and playing time, with a 24-minute floor. Team meters combine shooting, passing, possession care, and other available totals. Different measures can select a different top player or meter rating.

Badges and matchup categories

Badges highlight notable box-score differences and quarter-by-quarter swings. An upset means a winner ranked at least four conference places below its opponent. Heavyweights pair top-six teams; Bottom Barrel pairs teams ranked 11–15. Early-season game categories can use a sourced preseason power ranking until every team has played eight games. These categories are not betting predictions.

Historical standings

Game cards use ranks entering the selected day. The standings table uses the snapshot entering the following day to reflect the selected day’s results. Reconstructed standings rank teams by win percentage; ties share a rank and appear alphabetically, without official NBA tiebreakers. Movement compares those consecutive snapshots and can reflect other teams’ results too.

Publication and corrections

Recaps and short game notes are computed from the underlying statistics. They are not live reporting. Saved pages can remain visible during upstream outages and show the date of the available recap. Data corrections may change a later refresh. Inbound is an independent project and is not affiliated with the NBA or its teams.
